Google translation provides "God" as Dia which seems Latin in origin. Early Celts had several "gods" before Roman influance. What would the Irish translation of "gods" be in the sense of a pegan god (plural)?|||Latin and the Celtic languages are quite close so many words will be similar and the dia/de that appears in Gaelic just happens to be similar to the latin version.
From wiktionary:
From Old Irish d铆a from Proto-Celtic *deiuo-s.
So the word is celtic in origin.|||d茅ithe - gods
d茅ithe adhartha - gods of pagan pre-christian worship|||Dia eile, meaning another god.|||Dingus
Glad to help :)
